Welcome to SnowtoSeas!
My name is Anya, and as you’ve probably guessed, I have an obsession with travelling. I was born and grew up in Canada, but after finishing university, I decided to pack my life into a suitcase and move across the Atlantic. I currently live and work in Sweden, and I travel whenever humanly possible.
During the past 2 years, I’ve been travelling extensively throughout Europe (And yes, I also work full-time). While travelling, I’ve received hundreds of invaluable tips from anything and everything but guidebooks. I created this blog to document my adventures and share what I’ve learned. Most importantly, if you are reading this and are interested in travel, I hope that this site will motivate you to keep on exploring!
My site name comes from my own personal, internal dilemma. Over a decade ago, I went on a family roadtrip along the northeastern coast of the United States. We spent time in the Adirondack mountains and Cape Cod. I was impressed by these two very different places and started asking myself: which one would I chose if I had to pick living amongst the mountains or by the sea? I couldn’t decide then and still can’t decide now. I am absolutely fascinated by both. So, I want my blog to share adventures from higher altitudes and lands with the midnight sun to explorations of turquoise waters and tropical heat.
If you’re still curious and have read this far, I can tell you that some of my other obsessions include photography, drawing, painting, graphic design, history, and metal, so you can expect them to find their way into the blog every now and then too.
Thank you so much for stopping by!

I really dig what you’ve got going here. Your articles are very informative and your writing is excellent. It all matches–from the theme to the pics, from the tone to the perspective.
As a fellow history graduate, I think it’s great that you provide your readers with relevant background info. It’s all about the particular context–though that’s usually the first thing that many bloggers neglect.
Lemme know if you’d like to exchange links/likes.
Greetings from Berlin, Seb

Thank you so much for the feedback. I really appreciate it. Researching and history, overall, is something I lost touch with during the past few years after I started working full-time (not with history). The blog was a way for me to get back into it. It’s important for me to understand what I am seeing and why when I travel in order to have an enriching travel experience – and I hope to share what I learn with others. Of course, there will be the occasional post dedicated solely to budget travel or trip planning, but I want to keep including historical info as often as I can. Thank you, again!

Wow, you’ve been so many places I want to go. I’m particularly interested in Croatia, Prague and Budapest in the coming year, and the Camino de Santiago in the fall. I too love the mountains, the sea, and everything in between! 🙂 Thanks for dropping by my blog, Anya. It’s so nice to meet you.
